Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Batwa Community Trail

Upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport (EBB), a member of the Kigezi Mbogo Safaris team will greet you and provide a briefing. The journey is quite long, lasting about 7 hours, with a lunch break along the way.

Despite the length, the drive showcases various landscapes, including tropical rainforests, savannah fields, and the terraced hills of Kigezi, often referred to as the Switzerland of East Africa.

Once we reach Bwindi, we will check into the lodge and then head to the Batwa community for a cultural experience with these forest pygmies. You will have the remainder of the day to relax as you prepare for the adventure the following day. Meal Plan: Lunch and dinner.

Accommodation: Rushaga Gorilla Lodge

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for Canoe Ride

After having breakfast early in the morning, proceed to a briefing where we will meet the fantastic local guides and trackers. After that, you will start the wonderful gorilla trek.

The trek can last anywhere from 1 to 6 hours, depending on the family’s location

The ground is uneven and muddy, requiring good physical fitness. Despite the physical challenges of the hike, the stunning beauty of the forest and the surrounding landscape make the effort worthwhile.

It is advisable to carry plenty of water during the trek.

Bringing cameras and a good supply of fast-speed film is also suggested. Since this is a tropical rainforest, rain can occur unexpectedly, so it’s important to bring waterproof clothing, including zip-lock bags for your cameras and film.

Additionally, you should wear strong hiking or walking shoes, long pants, gloves, and a raincoat.

Afterward, we will transfer to Lake Bunyonyi.

Accommodation: Itambira Island Resort

Day 3: Transfer to Kampala via Equator the Line

After breakfast, begin the long drive back to Entebbe Kampala, remembering the amazing rare mountain apes.

Have lunch along the way and stop at the equator line for some fun experiments.

You will arrive late in the evening and be dropped off at Entebbe International Airport around 6:00 pm, so make sure to book an evening flight!
